Critical information if you are to enroll yourself in a plan

A challenge when filling out a Medicare Advantage plan enrollment is to check the reason for the enrollment. One reason must be checked.

Below are three significant enrollment periods:

  • IEP – The Initial Enrollment Period lasts 7 months, starting 3 months before a person’s 65th birthday and ending 3 months after the month a person turns 65.
  • AEP – The Annual Election Period, during which enrollment must be submitted between October 15 and December 7. You can enroll more than once during this period, but the last dated enrollment will be the one that becomes effective January 1st.
  • OEP—Open Enrollment Period—Medicare Advantage plan members can disenroll from one plan and enroll in another or return to Original Medicare.

A Special enrollment period (SEP) is allowed whenever a change is needed because of a special event, such as moving or losing other health coverage. If you have a special enrollment challenge, this would be a good time to call me.

If you have any questions, especially before you choose one of my services, please do not hesitate to give me a phone call. I love talking to clients and strongly recommend it, and I appreciate it when you call me. (561) 559-7153
